Turret

Layout was drawn in a cad program at a 1:1 scale.
Installed the components onto the layout to verify fit. I modified the layout found at House of Jim by adding a few components and a ground buss.
Taped the layout to the board and used it as a drilling guide.
The board is made out of 1/8" Garolite supplied by McMaster-Carr.

To install the turrets I used a staking tool I got from Hoffman Amps. It consists of two bolts, one with a hole down the shaft to accept a turret and the other has a point on it to flare out the lug. The bolt was attached to a piece of scrap wood with a couple of nuts. Next I installed a turret into the bolt then fed the turret through the board. I used scrap wood to support the ends of the board to free my hands so I could hold the pointy tool and a hammer. I struck the tool with a hammer a few times and it flared out the lug.

Finished board. Turrets supplied by Hoffman Amps.
